Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal known as the West Island. This West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a large part that stretches from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. But it's not the case. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa, Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an actress, but after a sudden expansion, she and her partner were no longer able to dance along with her. In an article that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. As I grew older than my male partners I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to act. For Brugel, it was the encouragement by her drama instructor at high school that led her to the path she wanted. It was her teacher who suggested she audition to play the character of Anne for their school's annual production. She auditioned and was cast as Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. Brugel's career spans over twenty years, and she's been in over 60 productions that have screened on large screens as well as smaller screens. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian actor in the season 1 of the show and was not seen much.
